Efficiency Improvement in Rolling Piston Type Rotary Compressors

This paper introduces the high efficiency of a horizontal rolling piston type compressor for household refrigerators. In the rolling piston type compressor, excessive compression loss and leakage loss largely affects the efficiency of the compressor. An experimental analysis of the following three items was made to determine that the performance characteristics of the compressor could be improved to a significant extent. (1) Assumption of excessive compression loss by making the entire discharge system as one orifice. (2) Determination of a clearance between the blade and piston and loss. (3) Efficiency improvement and noise reduction through design improvement of the bearing (by Finite Element Method).
